Episode description
Today, we are joined by Jamie Padkin, Senior Analyst from Osmosis Investment Management. In this episode, Jamie contrasts the levels of corporate disclosure underpinning Osmosis’ proprietary Model of Resource Efficiency (MoRE) signal across geographies and industry sectors in emerging markets compared with developed markets, and what this means for portfolio construction. Jamie also discusses how Osmosis’ research process navigates macro themes and heightened volatility in emerging markets and why Resource Efficient portfolios in less efficient markets are a compelling investment case going forward.

The host for this episode is Dennis Mothoneos, Managing Director from Clearway Capital Solutions.

Osmosis Investment Management
Osmosis IM manages developed market equity portfolios using a proprietary investment database – MoRE (Model of Resource Efficiency) – to identify companies, utilising objective publicly disclosed data, which are generating greater economic value per resource input (energy consumption, water consumption and waste production) than their sector peers. Osmosis believes that forward-thinking companies that take a proactive approach to a more sustainable future deliver greater value to their shareholders.

Osmosis manages Core and active, low volatility, systematic/quantitative strategies to generate repeatable alpha in resource-efficient global and regional-based equity portfolios. Osmosis was established in the UK in 2009, launched its first ‘environmental’ fund in 2010 and started managing the first of the MoRE strategies in late 2011. Osmosis has only recently begun to actively market its products and services to a broad institutional and sophisticated investor audience.
